Nitro RC or Electric RC ? The cost between Nitro RC s and Electric RC s is quite significant, nitro rc cars cost more to purchase than electric models.                                           (MORE ARTICLES HERE)

With a nitro RC you'll be paying for nitro fuel, batteries and need a tool to start the vehicle called a glow start and from time to time some oil will be needed to shocks and more after care is required with a nitro.
There is much more maintenance as the fuel needs to be drained from tank each time and do a visual check on everything and make sure all screws are tight and some basic maintenance after each run.

The speed of nitro RC s is crazy with speeds of 70 MPH and racing with friends is so cool and exciting.

Nitro rc cars can only be used outdoors as nitro fuel is highly flammable and fumes are poisonous, so remember to safely store your nitro fuel.
I recommend to start with a nitro rc in a big open space or park as the power of nitro can be overwhelming and difficult to control if inexperienced, the best way is to practice first because if you was to hit a kerb or rock at speed then the rc vehicle would break or destroy part of it, i hear this all the time so take note.

But with a little time and skill it won't be long before you become a pro.
Nitro RC s are awesome fun and faster than electric models. Also with nitro rc cars you can take some fuel with you and keep filling up and racing around, with a electric RC once you have run down the batteries then you'll need to recharge for a few hours before carrying on.

A good start is to consider a radio controlled nitro buggie as these can be used on-road or off-road so a good way to start, as a nitro rc car is mainly used on a flat smooth surface like a car park or race track.

I recommend a range from Acme racing as there radio controlled nitro buggies are (RTR) ready to run and all your need is a glow start and fuel, thats it and the Condor buggie is a popular model with great features and specifications.
The PRO version has a 2 speed gearbox, oil-filled shocks and a powerful 1.8 nitro powered engine with a simplified carb making these one of the easiest pull-start engines on the market.

If you do not have much time to maintain and keep tuning or adjusting your new rc car then don't buy a nitro as they need a bit of extra effort and care than electric rc models.

Your be more suited to electric RC s as no fuel to add and empty after each run +tuning and more basic care.

With electric RC s they have much less noise and can be used indoors, also little after care is required, just check the batteries are charged and a general wipe down is needed.
There are two types of electric RC s
Brushed and Brushless - Basically brushless is much quicker and can handle more voltage than a brushed motor, this is because there are no brushes so a brushless motor produces less heat so unlikely to burn out as well.

Brushless is more common now and to get good performance and a fast electric rc car then brushless is the way to go.
Acme racing also sell a great range of Brushless RC buggies, cars that run at over 40 MPH out the box! thanks to the brushless motor and high power 11.1V li-po battery pack, making them super fast and open the throttle and these pop a wheelie before taking off.

so now you know the main things to consider, whatever your choice is radio controlled vehicles are a excellent hobby to start and just have fun.

RC Tank Article

RC tanks are great fun for everyone and rc tanks have advanced a lot over the last few years.

Radio controlled tanks come in small mini desktop size to over 2 feet long, also most hobby grade rc tanks have movable turrets or can do a 360 degree turn, up and down movements.

Have BB firing plastic ammo, headlights, engine and machine gun sound effects. most have smoke effects from exhaust or turret to make these awesome tank models realistic, rc tanks move by radio control and go forwards, backwards and can climb steep terrains and slopes.

Radio controlled tanks are made of plastic with metal parts throughout and are reasonable tough, most PRO version tanks have upgraded metal tracks with rubber treads attached to them and give a great pull and look so real.Every detail on these rc tanks make them so cool like, a commander figure in tank hatch and lights, sounds markings, guns and even a metal gearbox is now very common.

Rc tanks can do battle together or with other tanks, if you have pre select channels you select a different channel to other tank and you're ready to roll.

These normally run on 27mhz to 40mhz and most have pre select channels on the radio controller.

Heng long is a great radio controlled tank manufacture and make a large range of rc tanks from a beginner to pro level and have features like a built in smoke generator or metal gearbox's and metal tracks +much more make these more reliable and tougher.

The realism of these pro versions is unlimited with quality specifications and all the war tanks like the German panzer tank or bulldog tank, panther tiger tanks are available with all the fine details to make model rc tanks real-like.

A good to remember when buying a rc tank is to make sure parts or accessoires are available, so getting smoke pellets or BBs will not be a problem.

Entry level tanks are a good way to get into rc tanks without having to outlay much money. these are smaller versions like 1/30th scale or 1/24th scale models and great to just have a quick tank bash around or for children. they are still alot of fun with full control and cool sound effects.

there is a Sherman rc tank Pershing that both have the above features and a flashing gun,the 1/24 Abrams rc tank even features a BB firing gun that shoots standard 6mm plastic bbs.

The M4 Sherman tank was the primary tank used by the USA during world war 2, it was also dispatched to the allies and in the UK the M4 was given the name "Sherman" after the union general William Tecumseh Sherman and subsequently the British name found its way into common use in the US.

The M26 Pershing tank was introduced in the last stages of world war 2 as the successor to the M4 Sherman. Featuring a powerful 50 caliber 90mm gun with a range of 1.400 metres , the Pershing was designed to take on the powerful German tiger and panther tanks.

The M1 Abrams is a modern tank that came in around 1980 and is a well armed and heavily armored and designed for modern ground warfare.

There is a 1/24th scale version of this and fires BB s and all direction turret movement which is controlled by the controller as well as the gun.

Top of the range rc tanks have a upgraded metal track and wheels and a metal gearbox. The metal track + wheels are much more tougher and robust and also gives a better grip and look fantasic. Making the rc tank more powerful.

You can also paint your radio controlled tank to suit or personalize your own design and heng long make quality pro rc tanks with all these great features.

Etiher way you're going to have totally awesome fun with a radio controlled tank and some guys build there own battle ground and add some army figures and create a battle zone.

Nitro rc car "Buying your 1st RC

Nitro RC Cars are great fun to use but they are also a committed serious hobby that will need some time to – Maintain, fix and clean a nitro car. But this does not take too long to do and is a requirement to keep the car working properly and to maximize the performance.

Here’s what you need to know about starting out with nitro rc cars. Firstly there are some adjustments when you get a new nitro model even so they are sold as ( RTR) ready to run, on a nitro car there is a engine needle setting sometimes there are 2 on pro versions and the instructions you get normally have details on this for that particular model and is pre factory set but these often need to be adjusted and fine tuned regularly. With the needle it only needs to be turned a little, about a mm or so counter clockwise at a time and this should get you started and can be fine tuned until the nitro car runs smoother.

Also check all the screws are tight as these DO come loose all the time and if you lose a screw the car might not operate properly or worse you could lose a small part and then the car will need a spare part and be hassle for you.

As any new nitro radio controlled car there is an engine Break-in procedure for the engine. This means as it is a new engine you have to slowly run the first 4-6 tanks of fuel and no more than a few minutes each run, also make sure the body shell is off when doing this so it allows air to flow keeping the engine cool .

Also a important note is to make sure you only keep it at half throttle, with no revving the car or you will damage the engine and limit the performance as the engine must not get too hot, which is why you have to be patient and follow the above.

This is only a short time to do and believe me it’s worth the extra little effort.

Priming the engine with nitro fuel is quite easy and there are a couple of ways to do this. As you pull-start the engine on the nitro car, look at the clear fuel line this is a clear plastic tube so you can check to see if the fuel is reaching the carburettor, if the fuel does not flow all way though then first check there are no kinks in the pipe anywhere, if this is ok then you can prime the engine by putting one finger over the exhaust or air intake for only a few seconds ! While pull-starting the car until you see the fuel reach the engine. Make sure finger is not over exhaust for long or you will flood the engine and lock it up.

If this does not work then i find this option easier :grab the fuel line end that connects to the exhaust and wiggle it off and blow down the pipe and this will force the fuel in, push the pipe back on and that’s it.

If you do flood the engine on your nitro rc car the pull-start will become stiff and hard to pull.

Do not pull until you have unflooded the engine, now to do this you simply remove the glow plug from the heat head sink and turn the car upside down, then pull-start the engine a few times to expel the excess fuel out of the combustion chamber. Replace the glow plug and start over again.

Nitro rc cars are fast and can hit 70 mph and can do flips and jumps and great fun to race with others.

I have done a review on some nitro radio controlled cars and below are some great examples of nitro cars and what you get.

The cyclone nitro rc car is made by ACME Racing and is a outstanding model, a 1/10th scale car which is good quality made with features such as  - 18. Powerful Nitro engine with a simplified carb that makes these one of the easiest to start, also these engines are reliable . Also you get 4WD shaft system, oil filled shocks, metal brake system and a choice of body shells.

This is a great nitro rc car to start with and comes complete with a quality 27mhz controller. Want a PRO nitro car ? then acme racing have the cyclone Pro nitro rc car, which has all the above + a 2 speed gearbox and tough aluminium shock absorbers, fully raced bearings and a powerful nitro engine that hits 35 – 40 mph ! out the box.

I have one of these nitro cars and parts are always easy to get and this is great value for money, and an awesome fast rc car.

This next nitro radio controlled car is a massive 1/8th Scale and this can race at the highest level.

The VRX 1/8 th scale nitro rc car. This is a fully built 1/8 scale radio controlled rally cross nitro buggy that is packed to the hilt with features and would have to pay
extra for. This is a race proven model and every part of the design has been carefully thought about to make this a winner and remember this is not a entry level
or a 1/10 scale model .

This VRX-2 is a serious bit of kit featuring
3 shoe aluminium clutch
Front cvd shafts
Tough aluminium parts throughout
it goes on &on.
A very powerful GO. 21 rear exhaust engine is installed which is from the newest engine manufacturer
in Taiwan that already has a excellent race track record. A high quality nitro rc car for the big boys or someone
looking for a pro "all done" buggy with carbon upgrades and all the spec the standard VRX has.

This PRO version comes with:
Carbon fibre center diff upper plate
Carbon fibre steering upper plate
Carbon fibre radio tray
Billet rear shock tower
Billet front shock tower

How To Run In Your Nitro Model

The engine needs to be Run-in before full-time use. It is very important that this procedure is carried out. Not doing so will shorten the life of the engine and can ruin it.

There are two different methods you can do to run the nitro engine in. The first way is easier and is also safer as you be less likely to burn the clutch out. I find this way best or with the second method it is more complicated but if done correctly will give a little more life to your nitro engine.

To run your car in, take your finished model and roll it back and forth to be certain the nitro car wheels can turn freely. Then Place the car in a position so that the wheels are off the ground, like on a brick and start the car up and leave to run idle though 3 tanks of fuel make sure between each tank you leave the engine to cool down for about 10 minutes. It is very important to not rev the engine at all as you will badly damage it and also you will break the conrods.

By doing this and taking the time to run your nitro RC car in properly you will have no problems.

The engine should be broken-in on a smooth hard surface. Try to avoid breaking-in the engine on very hot or humid days. Ensure that the idle speed is not too high or else you will burn your clutch out or snap the con rod, and also make sure that the brake is not applied.

Always break-in your engine without the body on the car, you want as much airflow as you can get to keep the engine cool. Do not run the engine too lean or you will over heat it and cause permanent damage to the internal components of the nitro engine.

It is normal for the engine to use a lot of fuel during the break-in. This is because you are running it "richer" than you normally would to keep the engine cool and to flush out the engine as the parts "seat" themselves. Because of the richer than normal setting the performance of the engine will be limited. After break-in, you will then lean it out to gain performance back..

Method 1:

Once it starts and is idling slowly place it on the ground and drive it slowly on a flat surface. For the first use do not let the engine run for more than 3 minutes. Carry on running slowly for short periods until you have gone through 2 - 3 tanks of fuel.

Do not over accelerate at all during this procedure, as it will severely damage the engine. After each idling time, let the nitro rc car rest for about 10 minutes between each tank. Running in makes sure that the engine is operating correctly before you take it out for a proper run. It is best not to run though any puddles or water as this could burn out the electrics but you can always tape up wires, use silicone on gaps and around the electric box and make sure the screws are all tight before and after each run as these can work loose and you could lose parts while running your car around a park or track.

Always empty the fuel after using as condensation can build up in the engine and damage it if left for a long time and always clean the wheels and ball joints and generally all over as a lot of dirt, sand or mud can build up. This does not take long and keeping the car clean and maintaining it will keep it running good and no money to keep buying spare parts, so it makes sense and also using normal batteries in the controller will run down pretty quick and once the batteries go to under 9V s you could lose control of car if using or worse crash it. Trust me get good rechargeable batteries and then you will always know you have a full charge and you will also save a lot of money in the long run.

Now you know how to break in a nitro RC car but one other thing is that the car will act strange and not run properly while you are using. Don’t panic this is normal and it will stall a lot, but this happens to every new car just keep with it and slightly adjust the tuning screw and it will become smooth and an easy ride. This is called “engine break-in” just like when you buy a real brand new car with no mileage on.

After a couple of tanks of fuel your patience will pay off with a strong, reliable running engine.

If you own a RC Nitro car then regular maintenance is a must..

1. Perform a visual inspection on your rc car -

Check there is no cracks in body or damage anywhere.

Tires are good check rims are still glued well.

2. Wipe down rc car with paper towels or cloth all over

and you can use a small toothbrush to get to awkward parts to clean.

3. Clean air filter with soapy water and rc air filter oil.

These can get real dirty an mud, debris can clog the filter up. You're need

to wash all the parts and dry so make sure to be careful when taking the filter apart.

4. Draining the nitro fuel tank.

If you will not be using your rc nitro car for a while. it is always best to

Drain the nitro fuel out as condensation can build up and this water will mix with

The nitro fuel and seriously damage the engine.

5. Charge up batteries and check over the receiver control is ok.

Doing the above will save you time and money and should take no

Longer than around 40 - 60 minutes.

so now you know the main things to consider, whatever your choice is radio controlled vehicles are a excellent hobby to start and just have fun.

RC Car, not sure what you need ?

Radio controlled models make great gifts for kids. They are a good way to have fun, instead of playing video games all day ! RC cars, trucks, buggy's are a great way to have fun together in the back garden or local park, don't get me wrong this is a serious hobby that adult and teenagers also love to use there models and there are race tracks you can take your rc car to, also there are clubs and hobby events. what ever you choose you'll have a fun packed time over and over.

Electric RC cars are a easier way to start for children between 5yrs/16yrs old and if your new to this superb hobby then you may want to consider working with the electric models first, as these are dead easy to use and maintain.

In fact you only need to give your vehicle a general wipe down to clear off mud and dirt and occasional oil the parts, so the maintenance is minimal and ideal for children. Just charge up the battery pack and your off racing around having a awesome time with a choice of "on road rc cars, rc trucks, buggys and off road truggys that will amaze you how great these hobby grade models are. Whatever type of model you choose its guaranteed to give you hours of fun and here at cool nitro cars .com we have a great selection of models for everyone and we only sell high quality hobby grade products at the lowest prices around.

All our models have parts that can be bought if needed so it wont in up in the bin if it crash's or a part breaks and given to the nature of this hobby its easy to crash it into a wall and need a simple part replaced. So go look though our great range of radio controlled models and grab yourself a unbeatable deal we know you'll love and bundles of fun. RC nitro's nitro rc cars are great fun but is also a serious hobby. If your considering buying a nitro powered RC vehicle then firstly- they are more expensive as you will need nitro fuel, a glow start and oil and time to time if you crash a nitro at high speed then your going to need parts and devote some time to maintain your nitro RC. But the rewards a nitro brings is second to none and go to speeds of 60/70mph and you can always upgrade to a better specification later on when you have gained some expeirance.

Nitro rc cars are for ages of 14+ as nitro fuel is flammable and other elements of running a nitro model. Also there is a lot more maintenance and time needed like fueling up and making sure all screws are tight, fresh batteries and tuning. A great way to learn about nitros is to buy a (self build ) nitro RC car. This is a good way to learn and see how it goes together and how all the parts work, the build time is 8 / 12 hours on average and you'll enjoy building our great models as they come all labeled to each stage and a full detailed UK instruction Manuel that is put together in a step by step stage. See our unbuilt nitro cars in our nitro section where there are more details and pictures .

Radio control cars, rc buggys and electric rc trucks info.

General info on radio controlled cars, rc buggys and electric rc trucks

Radio controlled cars that come in electric powered -
are great to start out with as you get used to handling your car and best for children as they are very simple to use.
All thats needed is to charge the battery pack , get some rechargeable batteries for the controller and thats it, i say get rechargeable as this way you will always know the batteries are fresh + it will save you a lot of money as normal batteries don't last too long. So it be well worth it, Radio controlled cars are great and can go very fast.

Another good point is - they are clean with no fuel to add,

There are two main types of electric motor : Brushed motors and Brush less

Brushed motors are ok and you can change the brushes when they burn out but they don't have a longer run time as brush-less and they get hotter a lot quicker.

Brush less motors can run much longer and are much faster with speeds of 40 MPH  and are more common now days but you're pay a little bit more for a brush less model but let me make it clear " Brush less is well worth the extra money and the speeds are awesome. Radio controlled buggys and rc trucks are made for off road and can do crazy stuff and stunts, they can roll over grass, rock, dirt and woodland and are more robust than on road rc cars.

Do not run a electric model  in wet weather or though puddles as the electrics will fry or damage to the servo, you must protect your electric pack from water or better still don't use in wet weather.

You can protect the electric's with a balloon, all thats needed is a normal balloon and you can strech it over for short peiods and also a good tip is to use silocone selant on any gaps or to seal the receiver box.

Overall  electric rc cars are great fun and easy to use and get a Brush less model and the speed and power is awesome so check out our range of  electric rc cars for a great buy !

Nitro Radio Controlled cars

Nitro rc cars require nitro fuel to power these great models and although they need a lot more maintence and aftercare, the feel and power of nitro is outstanding.

All the tools needed is a glow plug and charger and some nitro fuel and you are off... There are some tuning ajustments and a few things before you start but the little extra time is worth it, also with nitro rc cars they just feel more real and more power makes nitro rc cars fast ,great handling and overall a truly awesome piece of kit. Nitro rc cars can reach speeds of 70 MPH and can be upgraded or change the body shells to suit.

Rc nitro trucks are totally awesome and run over most terrains with ease, they can run in wet, snow, mud, wastelands or woods and most have 4WD,alloy shocks and monster tires that make these great to use just about anywhere as a car is more suited to race tracks or flat smooth areas.

Radio controlled nitro buggys are the same and are great off road and on road, with our condor range we have PRO rc buggys and SE rc buggys that are crammed with great features and PRO specifications make these awesome buggys that provide hours of fun. See our nitro car FAQ for setup or common problems.

We also have petrol rc cars, buggys, trucks that need unleaded petrol and a little 2 stroke oil and are more for experainced operaters and we have petrol rc trucks with powerful engines and excellent models from professional brand name manufacturers.

RC Cars "Which One do i Get "

The difference between a toy rc car and a hobby grade rc car is a universe away in terms of quality, control and basic componants. With a toy rc car you can not fine tune the streering controls and the brakes, also it will most likley veer off and have limited control and the car will be jerking around and not so smooth. When you crash a toy shop radio control car and trust me at some point you will, you will have no choice but to bin it like most people end up doing... Why ?

well you can't get spare parts for toy grade RC s as these are normally cheap products made in china and parts are just not availible.

A true rc car will have parts availible and can be upgraded or modified and the quality will be much better, the response will also be much more accurate so you can judge taking corners or braking times.

The cost for a hobby rc car is more money but in the long run its well worth the investment as the thrills and excitement of a fast screaming radio control car racing around a track or park is priceless and total fun every time. Rc cars come in various sizes and range from 1/28th scale being classed as a mini rc to a massive 1/8th scale like the "acme Warrior rc buggy and the Werewolf rc car. These are awesome in size and are loaded with features and great spec, and less than a few hundred pounds you will have a quality piece of kit and a top speed of 60 km/h and a quality controller.

1/10th scale radio controlled cars are most common and most come fully built and ready to run out the box or if you have time there are also self build rc car kits where you build them up in stages , thus learning about how they work and all the parts that make up a rc car.

Electronic speed controls.  The (ESC) is a device on the electronics that transmits a signal from the radio controller to the rc car telling it to move faster or slower also turns and some have the capability to have a reverse, although nitro and petrol rc cars do not have as standard. Most rc cars come with pre painted bodyshells and stickers to apply but you can get blank clear bodyshells so you can paint or spray up your own colours or designs, rc trucks are common to have these and off rd rc buggys. It is always a good idea to have ventilation and most cut a hole though the front windscreen and you can cut the clear windows with a craft knife so they look half open  -thus getting plenty of air flow to keep the engine cool as when to hot the body shell can melt under the heat.

With a RC model it is worth to buy the best with the money you have to get a good quality 2 channel controller and basic features like oil-filled shocks, full suspension, ESC and 2 speed gearbox and maybe a steering servo, expect to pay around £150 -250 for a good hobby grade model and you can always add upgrades and chrome exhausts, wheels and much more at a later date.

Power options

There are three powered types of rc cars -  Electric - Nitro -  Petrol

Electric rc cars are common as they are very easy to use with hardly any maintainence needed. Now days electric rc cars are pretty quiet and with brushless motors now being used more and more, a brushless car can hit 60 mph and they can run much longer without getting too hot.

The batteries come in a few options and a 1800amh is a good load and a spare is also needed so you can keep going, and a good tip is to use rechargable batteries on the controller as they can get costly if using throw aways.

Nitro is a fuel burning power and with a nitro rc car there is a little more work involved as nitro fuel is messy and highly flammeable and when buying a new nitro car the engine has to be broken in slowly and this involves slowly running the car on a level ground for 5 -7 short runs without using full throttle at any time or this will damage the engine and limit the preformance.

Always use rechargable batteries as then you will always know you have fresh batteries as this is important because if they run low while driving the nitro car, you will lose control if they go under 8.5 V and just hope its not heading for a lake or busy road and also if you are going to race or go to park for day its typical the batteries will go dead as your having fun. Electric RC s do not like water and its very easy to go though a puddle and fry the ESC or the electric pack, to prevent this i use a balloon and pull over the electric box and tape all wires and open ends up and silocone to seal gaps up. Alway check all screws are tight as these work loose and if lost while running then the chance of finding is slim and the RC will be shelved until you order the new parts.
